about

After having recorded two LPs (Landscapes/1980 and Dimensions/1982) and a single (Singapore/1983) in a professional studio, we decided to make this recording at home.
The only reason was that we wanted to be free in all our choices. When you work with a technician it’s sometimes necessary to negotiate. And there is an implacable countdown because you only have the studio for a short period of time. That way of doing things took all our freedom away.
So we started at home. And it took a while … from October 83 to December 1985! To be honest, we didn’t really have a studio yet. We recorded the percussion in a cellar. We even stacked three keyboards in an improvised studio of three-square meter!
All the songs were recorded on our Teac 3340 (4 tracks). The mix-down of the parts proved to be particularly complex. The mastering was made by a friend working in a professional studio. He could make it free, but it had to be done very quickly between two reserved recording sessions. The job was not very good for some transitions due to the lack of time.
And today, 36 years later, we've remastered the entire master tape and above all those failed transitions. Originally, this recording was only released on cassette. We are happy to offer it now in the best possible quality.
Our next work "Escales" came out 5 years later. It was our first CD. We recorded it in our new studio on a Tascam 80 (8 tracks). We had our first multitimbral instruments and, together with the famous MIDI linking all our instruments, we were able to arrange much better our compositions. The Synthetic Orchestra was conducted by an Atari computer.
We've never set foot in a professional studio again.
Age is the story of two enthusiast guys who always wanted to reject constraints and influences. Music is our oxygen, and we wanted to breathe it freely and we still do.
