In April 79, we started working on a third project: 'Au-delà’ (Beyond' in English), a musical evocation of the passage to the other world.
We finished it four months later. We literally tortured our 4 instruments for certain sections of the song. We did it because the sounds we needed had to be loud, full or even wild. Our goal was to compose a piece as ruthless as death itself.
For some parts we also wanted to create a hypnotic effect like that of a process (death of course) that is impossible to stop.
This achieved a striking contrast between these rather brutal or powerful parts and the dematerialized music depicting the afterlife. This contrast comes to light with the last minutes of both parts. The end of part 2 illustrates the first steps in the other world. These minutes were for us the most difficult to play with the instruments we had at that time, more than 40 years ago.
